Rental Rules In Eagle County

Unincorporated Eagle County does not currently run a countywide short-term rental licensing program. That does not make renting rule-free: towns, metro districts, HOAs, and recorded deed restrictions each carry their own requirements, and they control what your address can do.

  • The county decided against a countywide licensing ordinance in May 2025
  • Homes inside Vail, Avon, or another town follow that town's own program
  • Beaver Creek rentals are licensed through the Beaver Creek Resort Company
  • HOAs and metro districts can restrict or prohibit short-term rentals
  • State, county, and district lodging taxes still apply; rates vary by address
